Lost March

Great Googly Moogly, I have returned to cyberspace for more than a cursory glance and am so happy to be back. The last month has been particularly heinous and challenging and yet we persevere. Dad suffered a new series of strokes and was hospitalized for a week and then spent two weeks in rehabilitation. He returned home this past Friday and is recovering slowly but surely. His time in the pokey was tough on he and my mother as they have not spent more than a few days apart in 68 years of marriage since he was in the Navy in WWII. When Mom and Dad reunited, they clung to each other sobbing for several minutes. Needless to say, there was not a dry eye in the house.

During that time, their home assumed the role of the Money Pit and soon there were sewage backups, basement floods and continuous repairs. The pic above is the backhoe during the Big Dig. Mom flipped her wig a few times but regrouped.

The other pics above show Dad in a rare peaceful moment at the hospital during a nap and some of his hospital food which clearly hasn't improved over the years. I will say the hospital cafeteria was fairly good, though. Dad was beloved by the nurses with his sense of humor and his orneriness.

Among the bright lights for me involved food as always and the pics range from kicked-up tater tots with Kak and JB and awesome cookies sent to me from the Lorentz clan with precious artwork from Tanner and Sierra.

So, so good to be back.

  1. Welcome back and goodbye. I'll miss you being here everyday but I'm so glad you will be going home to some sense of normalcy (if you can call retail and wedding season normal LOL) Eat well and post often for me. LOVE YOU!
