Barely out of January, and I blew the Challenge to write every day. Bugger! I took on a wretched stomach bug yesterday and crawled home after work to collapse into bed after hittin' the meds. Woke up in the middle of the night to realize I still felt puny and the entire day had passed me by. Oh well, the plague that I've inherited didn't exactly inspire me to write about food anyway. I will keep working to write every day, though.
So today, as the stomach turns, a major winter storm bears down. The drifts rise and the landscape is swallowed in a blanket of white. Depressingly, I can't even offset the gloom with an indulgence into something too comforting. My constitution seems only to handle the stale and flavorless right now. So, I'll just dream of greener pastures like this vineyard from a wine festival we attended a few years back...
So sorry you are feelin' poorly. Winter here at home is relentless. After shoveling for hours to leave 4 ft heaps of the white stuff anywhere we could find to put them the main roads were finally cleared. The side streets everywhere are still mostly downright treacherous. However, Mother Nature being the you know what that she is had decided that tonight we here in the MOV need freezing rain which will turn tomorrow to....you guessed it...more snow. And then there's always the next superstorm being down upon us on Sunday. So thank you for the vineyard picture. I am going to sear it into my mind for the next two months and pray that by then everything will have started turning from white to green. Love ya! ~Kristy
