A Cuban Beginning

New menus have rolled at my workplace, the Elms Hotel and Spa, which is exciting for me, because that means multiple opportunities to try new grub.  My cohorts Jenai, Megan and I tried out lunch one day last week and we were all duly impressed.  Jenai got the vegetarian black bean and sweet potato burger with red onion, yellow tomato and chili-lime vinaigrette (and it is also recommended to add avocado, should you so desire) and she enjoyed it.  I'm a sucker for a good Cuban sandwich, and our version is no slouch: slow-roasted pork shoulder, Black Forest Ham, pickle aioli, Swiss cheese and Farm-to-Market pretzel bread. More a Missouri Cuban than a Miami Cuban, mind you, but uniquely tasty all the same.  The onion strings on the side were darn fine, as well. The lunch menu is full of familiar concoctions with delectable twists like deep-fried Monte Cristos, Philly wraps, pattymelts and Cobb salads.

The first taste is a promising one...and there are updated breakfast and dinner menus, too...so there is so much more to try.  So many new items, so little time....
