Back in the Saddle

I finally got back in the kitchen last night so K and I could whip up some dinner forthe week leading into the holiday. We went for some lasagna because it makes for some great leftovers. Perusing the Net for some highly rated recipes, we found Paula Deen's lasagna. It's actually the official Lady and Sons recipe from her Savannah restaurant. The prep and cook time took around 2 1/2 hours and it was worth every minute. The end result was some of the best lasagna either of us had eaten. For once, there were no screwups nor would we have done anything diffferently. The only thing I noticed was that maybe the cream cheese should have been crumbled a little finer. It was creamy and cheesy and the sauce alone was terrific.

For dessert, we indulged into the luscious cannoli we brought home from Mary Ann's.

It will be a holiday spent with Ms. Deen as we will also use her Country Stuffing recipe for Thanksgiving. We've used it for the past three years and now can't imagine NOT using it.
